Empowering Young Minds with Knowledge That Saves Lives
Joyful Tears Initiative (JTI) made a powerful impact at Isolog College, Ojodu, with its signature “Catch Them Young Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.” The event focused on educating secondary school students — especially young girls — about the importance of early detection, body awareness, and proactive health practices.
While breast cancer is more commonly discussed among adults, JTI believes that awareness should start early. Through interactive sessions, quizzes, and group discussions, the students were introduced to key topics such as:
- Understanding breast health and changes to look out for
- Common myths and facts about breast cancer
- Encouraging open conversations about health at home and school
- Importance of self-confidence and body awareness
The enthusiastic participation by students and staff demonstrated a growing recognition of the value of youth-centered health education. Many students asked questions, shared experiences, and committed to spreading the message of awareness among their peers and families.
“We’re not just talking about breast cancer — we’re nurturing a generation of informed, empowered young people,” said a JTI representative.
JTI remains committed to expanding its outreach to schools across Lagos and beyond, ensuring no one is too young to learn about the value of self-care and health advocacy.
