Empowering Women Through Love and Learning: Breast Cancer Awareness & Skill Acquisition at JTI
On Valentine’s Day 2023, Joyful Tears Initiative (JTI) hosted a heart-centered outreach program that merged breast cancer awareness with economic empowerment. The event took place at the JTI office, 13 Obafalabi Street, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, and welcomed women from the surrounding community.
The day kicked off with an interactive Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign where participants learned about early detection, breast self-examinations, and dispelled common myths. The health session was both enlightening and engaging, encouraging women to take proactive steps in their personal health journeys.
To deepen the impact, the program included a hands-on Skill Acquisition Workshop in soap-making — equipping participants with a valuable craft they can transform into a source of income and independence.
The event was a resounding success, filled with learning, laughter, and community bonding. JTI continues to prove that empowerment is most effective when it touches both the heart and the hands.
Because when women are informed, skilled, and supported — they rise.
