Empowering Educators: JTI at Oregun Senior High School for World Teachers’ Day
On World Teachers’ Day 2018, Joyful Tears Initiative (JTI) honored the invaluable role of teachers by hosting a special awareness session at Oregun Senior High School Hall, Ikeja.
At JTI, we believe that information is a powerful tool to enrich society. That’s why we used this occasion to equip our nation’s educators with life-saving knowledge on breast cancer awareness, detection, and care. Teachers serve as the heart of our communities, and what better way to celebrate them than by investing in their health and wellbeing?
The session included:
- Educational talk on breast cancer signs, risks, and self-care
- Discussions on the importance of early detection and lifestyle choices
- A surprise session on prostate cancer awareness — led by a passionate JTI volunteer — especially for the male staff in attendance
“When you enlighten one teacher, you have enlightened a whole school,” is a belief we hold dearly at JTI.
This event was more than just a presentation; it was a thank-you card to the educators who daily shape the minds of our future leaders. Through them, awareness multiplies — from classroom to community.
